Interleukin 8

Interleukin 8 (IL-8) is a chemokine produced by cells (notably macrophages). It has two noteworthy functions: inducing chemotaxis (chemical-mediated cell movement, often to draw macrophages to infection sites) and stimulating phagocytosis (immune cells absorbing pathogens).
