Heart failure is a disease where the heart becomes weak and unable to pump blood efficiently enough to meet the body’s needs. Heart failure causes blood and fluid to accumulate in the lungs, swelling (edema) in the ankles, feet, and legs, and tiredness and shortness of breath.
