Oral immunotherapy is a medically-supervised therapy that involves giving someone with a food allergy an increasing amount of a food allergen (e.g., egg or peanut) to increase their allergic reaction threshold. This can protect an individual from the negative effects of accidentally ingesting a specific allergen.
