    Cystic fibrosis (a genetic disorder) causes mucus to become thick and sticky, impairing organ function (e.g., lungs and pancreas). Common symptoms include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, frequent lung or sinus infections, foul-smelling greasy stools, and constipation.
