Fat or Fatty Acid

Fatty acids are carboxylic acids with a hydrocarbon tail varying in length and extent of hydrogen saturation. They are found within triglyercides, phospholipids, and cholesterol esters, and play an important role as an energy source, in cell signaling, and as a structural component of cells. Fats and oils are sources of fatty acids in the diet.
