Trial Design | Randomized trial |
Trial Length | 2-4 Weeks |
Number of Subjects | 26 |
Sex | Male |
Age Range | 18-29 |
Body Types | Trained |
Participants were assigned to either do a 16:8 time-restricted eating protocol or a normal diet while engaging in a resistance training program for four weeks. Both diets had a 25% caloric deficit, and had the same macronutrient composition. Protein intake was 1.8 g/kg/day for both groups. Participants completed two visits before and after the intervention. In the first visit, resting energy expenditure and body composition (via ultrasound) were measured, and blood was collected. On the second visit (48 to 96 hours later), vertical jump and estimated one rep max and reps to fatigue for leg press and bench press were measured.
