Vitamin E supplementation as mixed tocotrienols (30.8% alpha-tocotrienol, 56.4% gamma-tocotrienol, and 12.8% delta-tocotrienol) at 50mg taken twice daily (100mg daily) over the course of eight months appeared to be able to increase the amount of visible hairs in balding areas by 34%, whereas placebo experienced no increase. Hair loss was not specifically due to androgens, and the study investigated both females and males.
Only one person in the tocotrienol group was deemed a nonresponder, and there was no influence on hair weight suggesting only a proliferative effect.
