Effect Of Vitamin E And Memantine On Functional Decline In Alzheimer Disease: The TEAM-AD VA Cooperative Randomized Trial
Notes for this study:
|Number of Subjects
2,000 IU of alpha-tocopherol daily for five years in persons with Alzheimer's already on acetylcholinesterase inhibitor therapy noted that, relative to placebo, there was an improvement in symptoms as assessed by the ADCS-ADL rating scale thought to represent a 19% reduction in the rate of disease progression.
The addition of Vitamin E with memantine (20mg) showed no further benefits over Vitamin E in isolation.
