A high dose of vitamin E (1,800 IU) daily for one year in diabetic persons appeared to slightly worsen systolic blood pressure and blood flow (flow mediated dilation and nitroglycerin-induced dilation) whereas positive changes in HbA1c and total cholesterol appeared to be attenuated with vitamin E (relative to placebo) although HbA1c was not significant.
Endothelin was increased with vitamin E at six months, but this change was no longer significant at 12 months; degree of change was minor.
