Supplementation of vitamin D3 to aged persons with osteoarthritis to assure a serum vitamin D concentration of above 36ng/mL (2,000 IU at baseline, sometimes esclalated to 4,000IU) failed to reduce pain symptoms of osteoarthritis and failed to reduce the degradation rates of collagen.
