Notes for this study:
This trial randomized healthy people with vitamin D levels no greater than 30 ng/dL to receive 800 IU vitamin D or placebo daily for 12 weeks. The participants received this treatment during the winter months in northern Germany. Both of these factors increase the chances of being vitamin D insufficient or deficient.

There was no effect on the main study outcomes (CVD risk markers such as blood pressure and cholesterol), but a slight drop in RBC count, hematocrit, and erythrocytes was seen in the vitamin-D group.
