Values HOMA-IR. Lactase: before 7.36±0.34, after 3.97±0.6. Low lactose diet: before 5.55±0.68, after 3.16±0.35. Statistically significant within-group. Unclear significance between group. Unclear if standard deviation or SEM.
Trial Design Randomized trial
Trial Length 2-4 Weeks
Number of Subjects 40
Sex Both Genders
Age Range 1-6, 7-12, 13-17, 18-29
Body Types Obese
Notes for this study:
In a randomized trial with unclear blinding, obese children with genotype C/C 13910 and lactose maldigestion were allocated to take 30 mg of exogenous lactase (Mamalac) 3 times per day, or a low lactose diet for one month

Both groups saw a notable reduction in insulin resistance, with a similar ending point, though the lactase group began with considerably more insulin resistance.
