Supplementation of 250mg glutathione daily for six months was able to mildly increase red and white blood cell glutathione stores, whereas supplementation of 1,000mg daily for one month was equally effective and when measured at six months reached peak efficacy (30-35% increase in red blood cells).

One month washout lessened the stores in the high dose group and normalized stores in the low dose group.

This study also found that the cytotoxicity of NK cells derived from patients given high dose glutathine was increased when compared to placebo.
