Studies related to Fecal Water Genotoxicity and Calcium

Faecal Steroid Excretion In Humans Is Affected By Calcium Supplementation And Shows Gender-specific Differences

Effect None
Trial Design Double blind
Trial Length 2-4 Weeks
Number of Subjects 35
Sex Both Genders
Age Range 18-29, 30-44
Body Types Overweight, Average
Notes for this study:
Consumption of a bread product containing an additional 1,000mg calcium daily for four weeks was able to reduce fecal cholesterol (30%) and its metabolites (32-44%) while increasing fecal bile acid concentrations (14-29%), although the genotoxicity of the fecal water (a biomarker for colon cancer risk) was unaffected.
