In otherwise healthy young adults, oral administration of 25mg of an extract (2:1 concentration) prior to a perceptual load task failed to find a significant reduction in errors (reaction time) when compared to placebo.
When assessing the emotional response to the task there appeared to be less amygdala activity in response to a high cognitive load, and as assessed by fMRI there was greater amygdalic activity with supplementation relative to placebo during testing.
