Notes for this study:
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 80 participants with ulcerative colitis took 1 g of spirulina or placebo daily for 8 weeks.

There weren't notable differences in weight, waist circumference, hip, circumference, or neck circumference. There also weren't notable differences in blood pressure anxiety, depression, or fatigue. Participants who took spirulina saw an improvement in stress, quality of life, and saw a reduction in sleep disturbances, but not a greater improvement in sleep latency, or efficiency.
