In a randomized, triple-mind, placebo-controlled trial, 110 women with premenstrual syndrome were allocated to 100 mg of royal jelly per day or placebo starting on the first day of menstruation through two cycles.

At the end of two cycles, there was a notable reduction in average symptoms on the Premenstrual Profile 2005 questionnaire in the royal jelly group but not the placebo group, the difference being statistically significant.
