85g of watercress daily for 8 weeks was unable to overall influence antioxidant enzymes in cells extracted from otherwise healthy human volunteers, but reached significance when only assessing a particular genotype (in 44 out of 60 persons) that is thought to be associated with the anti-cancer effects of brassicaceae vegetables
