In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 76 participants with metabolic syndrome took 100 mg of saffron or placebo daily for 12 weeks.
Leptin increased more in the saffron group, while LDL decreased more. HDL, triglycerides, and total cholesterol weren't statistically significantly different, and neither were anthropometric outcomes.
