Effect of saffron on serum leptin levels in patients with metabolic syndrome, a double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled trial study
Notes for this study:
|Values||Saffron after 43.83±5.17 control: after 34.59±8.71|
|Trial Design||Randomized trial|
|Number of Subjects||76|
|Age Range||18-29, 30-44, 45-64, 65+|
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 76 participants with metabolic syndrome took 100 mg of saffron or placebo daily for 12 weeks.
Leptin increased more in the saffron group, while LDL decreased more. HDL, triglycerides, and total cholesterol weren't statistically significantly different, and neither were anthropometric outcomes.
