Effect of Crocus Sativus Linnaeus (saffron) supplementations combined with circuit resistance training on total creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase MB levels in young untrained men
Notes for this study:
Effect | None |
Values | Fig 1 |
Trial Design | Randomized trial |
Trial Length | 1-2 Weeks |
Number of Subjects | 23 |
Sex | Both Genders |
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 23 healthy, untrained men took 500 mg of saffron or placebo while undergoing a 5-day-per-week circuit-resistance training program for 2 weeks.
Plasma lactate dehydrogenase was reduced more in the saffron group than placebo. There was also a greater reduction in plasma creatine-kinase-MB, though the difference wasn't statistically significant. There wasn't a notable effect on creatine kinase.
