In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 76 participants undergoing artery bypass grafting with poor memory, took 15 mg of saffron twice daily, or placebo, for 12 weeks.
The primary outcome was memory as measured by the Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS) and there wasn't a difference between groups. There also wasn't a difference for depression, anxiety, or the Mini Mental status Examination.
