In men with primary infertility given 30mg saffron twice daily (60mg total dose) for 26 weeks, supplementation failed to influence any serum hormone or seminal parameter measured (morphology, density, motility, antioxidant defenses) relative to placebo.
There was a decrease in blood pressure in the saffron group (from 127/74 down to 112/66) and decreases in red and white blood cells as well as serum platelets.
