Effect None
Values (ml min⁻¹ 1.73 m⁻²) Control group: before 142 ± 19, after 137 ± 16. Vitamin C: before 141± 19, after 134 ± 16.
Trial Design Randomized trial
Trial Length 2-4 Weeks
Number of Subjects 24
Sex Male

Body Types Average
Notes for this study:
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 24 male type 1 diabetes patients took either 6 g of vitamin C per day or placebo for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, there were no statistically significant differences between groups for glomerular filtration rate, effective renal plasma flow, urinary albumin excretion rate, blood pressure, fasting glucose, HbA1c, or insulin requirement.
