In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 24 male type 1 diabetes patients took either 6 g of vitamin C per day or placebo for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, there were no statistically significant differences between groups for glomerular filtration rate, effective renal plasma flow, urinary albumin excretion rate, blood pressure, fasting glucose, HbA1c, or insulin requirement.
