Notes for this study:
In women undergoing abdominal hysterectomy, half of the patients were randomized to receive 500 mg of vitamin C intravenously in addition to anesthetics while the other half received the same aesthetics but no vitamin C. There was no statistically significant difference between groups for cortisol levels, ACTH levels, insulin, osteocalcin, glucose, or blood pressure, though the vitamin C group had considerably lower cortisol and higher glucose levels after 24 hours.
