Supplementation of 150mg resveratrol 15 minutes after the workout (three times weekly HIIT training) over four weeks in lightly trained men appeared to interfere with improvements in VO~2~ max and genetic adaptations to exercise (assessed by impairments in the exercise-induced increase in PGC-1a, SIRT1, and SOD2) when assessed via a Wingate test.
Fat oxidation rates and substrate utilization unaffected, and when measuring type I and type II muscle fiber there was no influence of treatment on their composition of substrate composition (glycogen v. intramuscular triglycerides).
