Oral ingestion of a relatively large dose of a leaf hot water extract (1mL being equivalent to 1g of the plant's dry weight, and 10mL consumed per kilogram bodyweight) is able to reduce the peak and overall exposure to glucose after an oral glucose tolerance test by 25% (normal men) and 36% (diabetics) when the drink is consumed an hour prior to glucose ingestion.
