In 12 otherwise healthy and normolipidemic men given 5g of either sea buckthorn berry oil or coconut oil in capsules (10 capsules of 500mg to be taken in groups of 2-3 capsules throughout the day), 4-8 weeks of supplementation was associated with reductions in aggregation rate and the maximal aggregation of blood platelets.
There was an increase in blood glucose seen in both groups, which was thought to be due to the increased calories from fatty acids.
