Notes for this study:
After oral or nasopharyngeal (via the nose to the stomach through a tube) administration of 3g Astragalus Radix thrice a day (total of 9g) after stroke onset for 14 days.

After being judged by several rating scales (BI, FIM, GOS, MRS), results according to the FIM at all measured points and the GOS at 12 weeks suggested faster neural recovery after stroke associated with Astragalus, specifically functional competence (grooming, self-bathing) and memory.

All serious adverse effects seen were deemed to be not associated with the study drug.
