The Effects Of L-carnitine Supplementation On Performance During Interval Swimming
Effect | None |
Trial Design | Randomized trial |
Trial Length | 24 hours |
Number of Subjects | 20 |
Sex | Male |
Age Range | 18-29 |
Body Types | Trained |
This trial first had all 20 participants perform five 100 m swims using their stroke of choice for time, and then randomized them to receive either 4 g l-carnitine l-tartrate or placebo in a 236 mL citrus drink twice daily (in the morning and afternoon) for seven days. After seven days, the participants then completed another swim of the same design. Time and velocity were measured for each interval, and blood lipids, pH, and lactate were measured at the end of the swim.
