The Effect Of Two-week L-carnitine Supplementation On Exercise -induced Oxidative Stress And Muscle Damage

||Total antioxidant was higher compared to baseline immediately before and 24 hours after exercise in the l-carnitine group. Also, antioxidant capacity was higher in the carnitine group than the placebo group at all time points.
|Number of Subjects
Participants either received 1000 mg l-carnitine or placebo, twice daily for two weeks. Participants in the groups were matched on the basis of VO2max, which was established using a 15 minute running test two weeks prior to the experiment. For the experiment itself, participants were asked to run 15 km at their maximum effort. Blood samples were collected immediately, 2, and 24 hours after exercise.
