1g of Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR), divided into two 500mg dosages, was associated with significant improvements in symptoms of fibromyalgia relative to placebo. Specifically, there was no difference up to 6 weeks of treatment, but then the group consuming ALCAR started to experience more benefits than placebo.

These results suggest chronic ALCAR supplementation may be of use to manage symptoms of fibromyalgia.
