The Effect Of Oral Supplementation With L-carnitine On Maximum And Submaximum Exercise Capacity

This crossover study had two parts. In the first part, nine participants supplemented 1g l-carnitine and placebo twice daily for 14 days each, in random order with no washout period.
In the second part, ten participants took 1 g l-carnitine or placebo twice daily for 28 days, in random order separated by a 28-day washout period.
In both parts, participants performed a progressive test on a cycle ergometer. VO2, VCO2, cardiac frequency, l-carnitine levels, and blood lactate were measured.
