Notes for this study:
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 120 elderly male participants with sexual dysfunction, depressed mood, and fatigue associated with aging took a placebo, 160 mg/day of testosterone undecanoate, or propionyl-L-carnitine 2 g/day plus acetyl-L-carnitine 2 g/day for 6 months.

Carnitine improved erectile function and general sexual function, as well as depression and fatigue. Prostate-specific antigen, prostate volume, free testosterone, total testosterone, luteinizing hormone weren't notably affected.
