Studies related to Creatine Kinase and L-Carnitine

Effects Of Prolonged L-carnitine Administration On Delayed Muscle Pain And CK Release After Eccentric Effort

Effect Decrease
Values While creatine kinase rose significantly in the placebo group, it did not in the l-carnitine group
Trial Design Randomized trial
Trial Length 2-4 Weeks
Number of Subjects 6
Sex Male
Age Range 18-29, 30-44
Body Types Untrained
Notes for this study:
In this crossover study, participants received 3 g of l-carnitine and placebo daily for 3 weeks, in random order, separated by a one week washout period. At the end of each intervention period, participants performed a 20 minute step test to produce muscle soreness. Four days after each test, subjects noted the intensity of their muscle soreness. On the day before and of the test, as well as for four days after, muscle soreness was tested using mechanical and electrical stimulation, and blood creatine kinase levels were measured.
