Notes for this study:
12 slightly overweight participants took 3 g of l-carnitine daily for 10 days or no supplementation. They also received 3 g l-carnitine-l tartrate at breakfast, lunch and dinner on the 11th day.

CO2 exhalation was higher with carnitine, while protein synthesis was similar. There didn't appear to be notable differences in body composition, but the trial was very short.
