Effect Of Nigella Sativa Seeds On The Glycemic Control Of Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Effect | Decrease |
Trial Design | Randomized trial |
Trial Length | 1-6 months |
Number of Subjects | 71 |
Sex | Both Genders |
Age Range | 45-64 |
Body Types | Overweight |
Supplementation of 1-3g nigella sativa seeds (no placebo group used) noted that the 2g dosage, over the course of three months, was associated with significant reductions in blood glucose, HbA1c (1.52%), total cholesterol (11.1-15.2%), triglycerides (17.4-22.2%). While the HDL:LDL ratio increased, this was due to a decrease in LDL-C as HDL-C was unaffected.
