In a 6-month cross-over study with 3 month washout, serum enzymes (ALT, AST, GGT, and Alkaline Phosphatase) were all significantly improved with both TUDCA and the taurine-free UDCA. TUDCA was more effective, but the difference between TUDCA and UDCA did not reach statistical significance.
