Supplementation of 20g colostrum daily for two weeks prior to a VO2 max training session, relative to placebo, failed to improve physical performance but was able to reduce the increase in intestinal permeability that occurs with high intensity exercise where body heat is elevated.
The increase in GLP-1 seen during exercise in placebo was attenuated with colostrum; other biomarkers (serum NPY, VIP, or ghrelin) were not affected.
