Studies related to Macrophage Activity and Tinospora cordifolia

Can We Do Away With PTBD

Effect Increase
Trial Design Cohort
Trial Length 2-4 Weeks
Number of Subjects 57
Gender Both Genders
Age Range 18-29, 30-44, 45-64
Body Types Average
Notes for this study:
Supplementation of 16mg/kg of a water extract from the stems of _tinospora cordifolia_ for three weeks prior to surgery is able to prevent the surgery-induced reduction in macrophage phagocytosis and intracellular killing capacity although it was not significantly effective in reducing bilirubin.

No placebo group was used for ethnical reasons.

Immunomodulatory Role Of Tinospora Cordifolia As An Adjuvant In Surgical Treatment Of Diabetic Foot Ulcers: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study

Effect Increase
Trial Design Double blind
Trial Length 6+ Months
Number of Subjects 45
Gender Both Genders
Age Range 45-64
Notes for this study:
Supplementation of _tinospora cordifolia_ over 18 months appears to increase phagocytosis in macrophages and although there was a significantly reduced number of required debridements for diabetic foot ulcers the other measured parameters (wound depth and severity, healing rate, and global improvement) failed to reach significance.
