Regular Dark Chocolate Consumption's Reduction Of Oxidative Stress And Increase Of Free-fatty-acid Mobilization In Response To Prolonged Cycling

Effect None
Trial Design Randomized trial
Trial Length 24 hours
Number of Subjects 20
Sex Male
Age Range 18-29
Body Types Trained, Average
Notes for this study:
Ingestion of 40g dark chocolate two hours beforea 90 minute cycle to fatigue (60% VO2 with 30 second bouts of 90% every 10 minutes) appeared to increase plasma oxidative capacity and free fatty acids relative to cocoa free control, no other parameter including triglycerides or overall metabolic rate appeared to be affected (total oxygen consumption and RER measured).

Study was single blinded.
