Notes for this study:
During 6 weeks on a Very Low Calorie Diet (500kcal daily), participants were given either 150mg ephedrine hydrochloride or placebo for 2 weeks in the middle of the trial. Cross-over design had all participants consume ephedrine at varying times.

Metabolic rate dropped in both groups upon introduction to the low calorie diet, but was saved by ephedrine supplementation.

No significant effects were seen with urinary dopamine or adrenaline readings, and a decrease in urinary nitrogen indicates lean mass preservation.

Skeletal Muscle atrophy appeared to be reduced as assessed by urinary nitrogen levels.
