The Effect Of Systemic Zinc Supplementation On Oral Health In Low Socioeconomic Level Children

Effect Increase
Trial Design Double blind
Trial Length 1-6 months
Number of Subjects 52
Sex Both Genders
Age Range 7-12
Notes for this study:
Oral supplementation of 15mg elemental zinc to children daily over the course of 10 weeks is associated with reduced rates of plaque formation, which is thought to reduce the development of dental caries. While gingivitis decreased with zinc as well, it also decreased in placebo and the difference was not significant.
