Notes for this study:
The addition of zinc (25mg) to SSRI antidepressant therapy, when compared to SSRI therapy with placebo, was associated with a reduction of depressive symptoms as assessed by the HDRS after 12 weeks.

This benefit was not associated with alteration sin IL-6. TNF-α, or BDNF relative to the SSRI-placebo group. BDNF failed to increase significantly since the placebo group experienced a similar increase.
