400mg of phenylpiracetam daily for the course of a year in persons who suffered from a stroke was able to improve recovery on both functional and cognitive parameters (assessed by Barthel, Lindmark, Scandinavian, Merton and Sutto rating scales) relative to placebo.

Phenotropil In The Treatment Of Vascular Encephalopathy

Notes for this study:
200mg phenylpiracetam (100mg twice daily) for one month in persons with Encephalopathy from vascular origins noted that the improvement rate for both neurological and psychological symptoms was greater with phenylpiracetam (32+/-11%) than in control (25+/-11%).

Although a control was used, it was not placebo controlled.
