Time-dependent Effects Of Safflower Oil To Improve Glycemia, Inflammation And Blood Lipids In Obese, Post-menopausal Women With Type 2 Diabetes: A Randomized, Double-masked, Crossover Study

Notes for this study:
No placebo group, a blinded comparison study of 8g safflower oil against 8g of CLA. Safflower oil, but not CLA, showed benefits to blood glucose metabolism over 12-16 weeks, but had minimal potency in doing so.

HbA1c was reduced by −0.7±0.2 over 16 weeks with no significant effect on postprandial or fasting blood glucose, insulin AUC, or insulin sensitivity. Safflower oil was able to attenuate the almost significant increases in blood glucose seen in the CLA group.

HDL-C significantly increased by 0.1+/-0.1mmol/L and reduce C-Reactive Protein (CRP) by 3.4+/-9.9mg/L. No effects on other markers of lipid metabolism.
