1-3g of the fruits of Amla daily has been noted to reduce blood glucose (both fasting and postprandial) in diabetic and otherwise normal controls to a level comparable with 5mg twice daily of the reference drug glibenclamide.
There were also improvements noted in the lipid profile of participants, and there was no control group used (nor blinding protocol) in this study.
