Acute And Residual Effects Of Smoked Cannabis: Impact On Driving Speed And Lateral Control, Heart Rate, And Self-reported Drug Effects

Effect Decrease
Trial Design Randomized trial
Trial Length 1-7 Days
Number of Subjects 96
Sex Both Genders
Notes for this study:
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 96 cannabis users smoked cannabis cigarettes 750 mg (12.5% THC) or placebo before taking a simulated driving test, 30 minutes, 24 hours, and 48 hours after smoking.

Heart rate increased considerably after cannabis consumption. The cannabis group naturally drove more slowly after 30 minutes, but not significantly after 24 and 48 hours, while there wasn't a notable difference in lateral control.
