Notes for this study:
In this study, patients lived in a residential laboratory for 21 days, and engaged in smoking sessions four times a day, each time with cannabis cigarettes containing 0%, 1.8%, or 3.1% THC by weight. On the first four days, participants received only placebo cannabis. On days 5 through 8, they received the 1.8% THC cannabis, followed by another four days of placebo cannabis. The 3.1% THC cannabis was given on days 13 through 16, followed by another four days of placebo. Each day, participants answered a questionnaire describing their physical and psychological experience using a visual analog scale, and completed three work periods in which participants performed a task battery composed of a digit-symbol substitution task, a repeated acquisition task, a divided attention task, a rapid information task, and an immediate and delayed digit-recall task. Social behavior, tobacco smoking, and food consumption were also measured.
