In a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial, 28 adult women acutely smoked 1.8% THC cannabis cigarettes or placebo cigarettes and were tested for 180 minutes after smoking. This was done during the follicular, luteal, and ovulatory phases of the menstrual cycle.

Pulse rate was increased notably during each phase, with no notable differences between them It was still modestly elevated at 180 minutes, but almost back to baseline. POMS confusion increased considerably with intoxication.
