Notes for this study:
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 89 participants with bipolar disorder undergoing a depressive episode were allocated to take 200 mg/d of coq10 or placebo daily in addition to their usual medication for 8 weeks.

69 participants completed the study and were analyzed. Tumor necrosis factor and IL-10, were reduced significantly more with coq10 than placebo, and total antioxidant capacity and total thiol groups increased significantly more. There was a nonsignificant reduction in nitric oxide and malondialdehyde, increase in catalase activity, and no notable difference for IL6.
